Course Scope Crew stations and duties; weapon systems employment and maintenance; crew level automotive system maintenance; and tank gunnery and ammunition. Using conventional training methods, stand-alone training devices, simulators and simulations. Performance oriented training is M1A1 specific. The course is weapons/gunnery intensive and trains the student to function as an M1A1 Abrams tank commander. |
Course Prerequisites Active/reserve army commissioned armor officers (BC12,19); active/reserve army noncommissioned officers (19K);CSM, MOS 00Z who are assigned or enroute to an M1A1 equipped unit and who have been recently assigned to non-armor duties, or who have never been trained on the M1A1 series tanks; active/reserve officers (other than BC12,19) who are on orders to attend the Armor Officer Advanced Course (AOAC). The course is also open to qualified foreign officers. One year of experience as a Tank Commander and a passed TCGST within the last year is highly recommended. |
